You're missing the point. If you perform badly in something, you can (A) pount and complain about the performance, which effectively diminishes your confidence and does nothing to rectify the situation, or you can (B) strive not to repeat the performance in the future. If you are dwelling about the unchangeable, you are living in the past, and therefore not concentrating on the future. If you are looking towards the future, you are leaving the past behind you and effectively maintaning a positive outlook.
What's best for the team when a player is feeling down and out is to encourage him, to cheer him on. By doing so, you remind him of what he's capable of, of his abilities, not his limimations. Constructive criticism has been proven to bring about optimum results. Being put under constant pressure (usually) translates in your making errors that you otherwise would have not made. It's not about whether this or that way of "supporting" the club is more genuine; it's about what's best for the team. And what's best for the team is that the players maintain a positive frame of mind. If someone is constantly reminded how horrible they are, this will NOT have a positive effect of them. It just makes them more uptight, more tense, and more nervous, and as such, less likely to perform to their ability. --- In [EMAIL PROTECTED], "apbeacom <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > --- In [EMAIL PROTECTED], "fanxb2eric <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > wrote: > > > > This is not a public forum, or at least I don't consider it to be. > > It's a private one made up of United fans (and one token scouser as > > court jester) and as such it should be possible to take a balanced > > view about the team.
