Terry,
I have to agree. Roy has done all he can for EIRE.
If he comes back and they fail to reach the EURO Champs i feel he will also
be made the scapegoat for that.
Everyone knows that his performances against Portugal and Holland go us to
the world cup.
He should quit for good in my opinion.

If he stays and we fail to reach the Euro Champs we will only see him
participate in 4 or 5 more games for his country.
I bet he asks himself is it all worth it.

Regards,

I hope not. At his age, and with all his injury problems, the last
thing Roy needs is to be dragged away to flog his guts out trying to
rescue Ireland from their poor start. International recignition is
fine when you're just starting out in a career but the older you get,
the harder it gets to keep the same high standards in both domestic
and international competitions. With the heaviest and most crucial
part of United's season upon us, I'd prefer to see all United players
concentrating on United not their respective countries. Butty was
playing the best football of his career for United when he got injured
in an Ingurland game and was out for months. Injuries to key players
like Keane, Beckham and Scholes could prove costly.

But if internationals could somehow be scheduled so they didn't
interfere with the domestic game, then there's a certain amount of
pride seeing United players trotting out for their countries.

Nope, let Roy walk his dog in peace. Jason McAteer (YSB) will do a
fine job ;-)

Terry
