I don't agree with the majority of Ed's postings. A few things I do. Either
way, if people are getting so pissed off - then don't bother replying to
them. Simple as that! That would cut certain threads down to about 15-20% of
their current size at least. Everyone's got their right to post 'oi rekon',
and despite some of his pedantic opinions I'd rather them then the week-in
week-out complete player slagging bollix that we go through now and again.

I do know that he does have the knack of putting things in such a way that
even if you do agree with him (or posted similar messages two/three years
ago) you'll end up begging to differ! Formation argumet for one. People were
going nuts with the 4-4-1-1 issue ages ago. I for one came from wanting to
experiment/change from the easily read 4-4-2; to wondering blankly at it
the new 4-4-1-1; to questioning the sanity of it; giving it a chance;
accepting it; applauding it..... and now thinking that yes we've got two
styles of play to choose from, (and a mixture of both) depending who we've
got available, who we're playing against etc etc. Anyway didn't SAF say that
we have basically always played this way with Yorke, Cole, Teddy, Cantona?
One playing much deeper etc?

One thing I've learnt is that Statistics never really "prove" anything, they
"suggest". Like anything else it is all down to the individuals' readings of
those texts/statisitcs, and the subsequent data analysis is always going to
be up for argument. You can look in great detail at any number of things,
but if you don't put them in context or look at the bigger picture, they
mean little. As far as I'm concerned, there are far too many variables in
football for certain statistics to "prove" much at all. I'll leave that up
to the anoraks, whilst I enjoy "the beautiful game"

Cheers all,
Red.
(btw, that is my knickname I'm not being totally wanky! :)
