KAISERSLAUTERN managing director Rene Jaeggi has revealed that Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur spoke to the club about striker Miroslav Klose but were then unimpressed by what they saw.
The German international, who shone for his country in the World Cup, is available at around 5 million due to Kaiserslautern's dire financial problems. Bayern Munich, Juventus, Manchester City have all been linked with the Polish-born ace and now Spurs and Manchester United have been confirmed as interested parties. However, neither of the Premier League sides looks likely to follow up their initial interest after watching Klose in action last weekend in a 2-1 defeat to Stuttgart. "Tottenham were represented as well as United, and both clubs spoke to me about Miroslav's availability before kick-off," explained Jaeggi. "Unfortunately, things did not go well for Miroslav or the team and there was no sign of the representatives afterwards. "We were left with the impression they will not be taking their interest any further." Klose has scored just three goals in 17 Bundesliga matches this season - a poor return given that he scored five for Germany in the 2002 World Cup.
