Evidently the commentators on ESPN thought so too. They accepted that the advantage was played when Scholes was allowed to run on to the ball, but could have been pulled back when he didn't and sent Chimenti off.
BUt then again "advantage" was played when Scholes WAS given the opportunity to run on to the ball and go for goal. He got to the ball, he went for goal and was accurate enough to hit the post. Advantage played really. In the event that play had after that been pulled back and Chimenti sent off, I dun see any fairness of play really. It was a case of one or the other. As for Real: i thought it was an innovative way of scoring. A player on the ground can still play the ball. Dangerous play... as far as I know, pertains to the raised boot. Whether or not he backed into the player was up to the call of the referee.
