The Veron story keeps on rumbling this morning in the press. The take
now seems to be that Veron is considering going to Chelsea because
he feels he's not wanted. There are two viewpoints on this. One -
it's true. Two, it's a brillaint motivational ploy by Fergie to light
a fire under Seba.
Clearly there was a bid earlier in the summer and Seba rejected the
move. At the time, Fergie would have thought that Ronaldinho was
coming, but he wasn't signed so he had to be a bit cagey. However,
now Ronaldinho is definitely not coming then one would think Veron's
position is more secure. If Fergie does not want a player, the
signals are normally pretty clear and the "freezing out" process
would start. This doesn't seem to be the case with Veron but maybe
Fergie has learnt his lesson from the Beckham saga.
This trip of the Newcastle directors to LA is an interesting one. I
wonder if it's a smokescreen? Would Fergie invite the directors to
come to LA (and presumably pay for their trip) as a smokescreen to
make the press think we're doing a deal for Dyer when in fact we're
after someone else.
Damn, all this speculation is making my brain hurt.

To return to the real business in hand, nice to see Forlan bag a
brace against Club America.
