Ok, players who can play in defence: Neville x 2, Rio, O'Shea, Silvestre, Keane, Kleberson (if signed), along with whatever youngsters we have left like Mark Lynch. All but Phil Neville could play CB or FB, which gives plenty of options. A couple of injuries wouldn't be catastrophic. Now compare to strikers. We have Ruud, Ole, Forlan, and Bellion. Personally I think this was an excuse. He picked the wrong team in the first leg, and that's where we lost it. We showed that had we gone at them, we could easily have won the first leg.
