Well obviously the guy wants to stay and we are kicking him out of the
door.
That will make 2 EXPERIENCED creative midfielders out and noone to replace
them. If that remains I see just a disaster season ahead of us. At least I
can hope that I am wrong...

Seba's remarks after Sunday's game suggest he thinks his days at
United are numbered. The taxi is waiting. Barca and Juventus have not
followed up on earlier inquiries, which just leaves Chelsea. It seems
he would prefer to stay at United (or go to Spain or Italy), but if
the club want to sell him and Chelsea is all there is, then off he
will go to that piece of Russian real estate in west London.
Times article (29/7/03):
Reluctant Veron resigned to Chelsea move
JUAN SEBASTIN VERN has finally recognised that he may be forced to
accept a transfer to Chelsea, but said that his preference would be to
stay at Manchester United.
The Argentina midfield player claims that he has turned down offers
from several clubs this summer, but, with United willing to sell him,
and his agent due in London this week to discuss a 15 million move to
Stamford Bridge, he has acknowledged that he may have little say in
the matter.
"By no means do I plan to leave," Vern said after helping United to a
3-1 victory over Club Amrica in the second match of their US tour in
Los Angeles on Sunday. "I feel comfortable and happy with United. But
if the club is planning to transfer me, that's another matter."
An informal offer from Chelsea ? for little more than half the 28.1
million that United paid Lazio for him in July 2001 ? was accepted by
the club two weeks ago and the proposal remains open. Fernando
Hidalgo, the player's agent, is due to meet representatives of the
London club this week to discuss the move.
Joining another English club would not be Vern's preferred option,
given his struggle to adapt to the physical rigours of the Premiership
during the past two seasons, but, with neither Barcelona nor Juventus
having followed up their long-term interest with a firm offer, he is
said to be increasingly amenable to a move to Chelsea.
