In this example it is visiting supporters in a section
they should not be in. In England you have to go back
a long, long time since fans of rival clubs mingled
openly without any problems. That is the way it is.

Most people know this, and infiltration usually has
an agenda of its own. If fans in their own section
want to celebrate a goal against us that is
understandable, but not after masquerading as a United
fan for hospitality purposes.

But it's the fact that it is a public order issue that
is the problem. I
have been to games in the past where a large part of
the enjoyment has been
in the verbal sparring with opposing fans. As long as
it is light hearted
and not taken seriously by either party, it's a
positive experience. I think
what the author of the article was trying to say is
that it is a shame that
parties do take it seriously these days so it is
public order issue and
ultimatley, supporters miss out on part of the
"supporting" experience.
