I think Christiano ronaldo stood out for me. Forget the fact that everyone did not play that well. But at 18 years old playing against an England international in the shape of Cole, Ronaldo did very well. my man of the match award would go to him. He gave a few good crosses, got past his man a couple of times and had two ot three shots on target after cutting into the centre.

They never troubled Tim the entire 90 minutes. If they'd driven forward a bit more, I think they could have clinched it themselves in the second half. In the end, 0-0 is right. Defences on top; attackers nullified. Frankly, so badly did we need a spark of creavity, I'd have played Scholesie with a hernia, one lung, and the bubonic plague. Half a Scholesie would have made a difference. Viera's sending off was a result of his own stupidity. He'd been yellow-carded already and pissed the ref off by arrogantly walking away from him while he was trying to shove the card in his face. Then when he foolishly prodded out his studs at Ruud (who did make a meal of it), the ref had no other choice. The whole thing could have been settled with a few quiet words from the ref, but they obviously have tougher guidelines on everything this season. The pen incident at the end was a farce and a disgrace all wrapped up in one. It looked a genuine penalty. Gorilla Face Keown flattened Diego as he tried to get on the end of a cross. But after Ruud's miss, has anyone ever seen a pack of animals like Keown and his mob baying at Ruud, taunting him, pushing and shoving him? Disgraceful. If that isn't "bringing the game into disrepute", then I don't know what is. Dammit. Deserved or not, we should be top.
