BIG-MATCH FACTS
LIVERPOOL against Manchester United at Anfield matches the home club with the record
number of English League Championships (18) against the visitors, who boast the most
Premiership titles (eight).
The Merseysiders are ten points off the pace having ended a dismal four match losing
run in the Premiership with successive victories over Leeds (3-1 at home) and Fulham
(1-2 away). Those were followed by Thursday's Uefa draw away to Steaua Bucharest.
Liverpool, who beat United 2-0 in last season's Worthington Cup Final, are looking for
a third win in four home League meetings with the Red Devils. The Merseysiders have
gone 17 top flight matches since losing by more than one goal. That was Manchester
United's 4-0 success at Old Trafford last April.

MANCHESTER UNITED are back on track after conceding three goals to Fulham in a shock
home defeat two weeks again. They have since won three matches, scoring three goals in
each of the games against Leeds (Carling Cup away, after extra time), Portsmouth (h)
and Rangers in the second instalment of the Champions League Battle of Britain on
Tuesday.
The Red Devils, who own the tightest defence in the top division, are aiming for a
fourth successive Premiership victory on the road.
United denied Liverpool a sixth successive victory over the Red Devils with a narrow
victory in this corresponding fixture last season. It came with a little help from a
Jerzy Dudek fumble which led to a Diego Forlan goal. The Uruguayan incidentally has
scored in each of United's last four matches.
