Hello everybody!
I am really willing to change from MS to Linux and have already installed
SuSE 8.2 on my machine. Most everything works fine, but I have to use
Evolution as a compensation for MS Outlook. In addition, I own a Siemens S55
I used to sync with Outlook. Thus, I'd like to do the same with Evolution
and my S55. After googling a little on the web, I found MultiSync and was
really happy - at the beginning only!
SuSE 8.2 ships with Evolution 1.2, which means I'd need the gnome1 version
of MultiSync. Unfortunately, it won't install, since there are some
requirements in the multisync-evolution package I'm not able to solve, since
SuSE doesn't provide the packages containing the missing files or libs.
Thus, I upgraded to Evolution 1.4, hoping that would do it. I deinstalled
the gnome1 MultiSync version and installed the other one. The
multisync-evolution (gnome2 this time) installed well, too. But MultiSync
doesn't find that plugin, meaning it doesn't appear in the dropdown list!
Whatever (different) plugin I install, I is found by MultiSync. I wonder how
that is possible and where the problem might be found. Maybe you habe an
idea.
As a next step, I tried to install via the sources. That doesn't work at
all! After running ./autogen.sh, ./configure runs, but make tells me there
were no make files! Are they missing or what? I tried to install the
evolution plugin (via sources) and the ./configure (I think) returnes that
it needed evolution 1.4.x, which wasn't installed. But it is! Btw: Trying to
install the multisync-evolution gnome1 version while having evolution 1.4
installed, tells me i needed evolution 1.2, which is correct.
As you can probably guess, I'm totally confused and disappointed. Don't get
me wrong, I'm _not_ blaming _MultiSync_ in fact, since I appreciate that
people are writing such a program! :)

If anybody can help me, please do.

Thanks a lot
Christian Renner
