Hmmm, I may have solved the problem...
You know those little files in ~/evolution/local called local?.db ?
They should be deleted if you reconfigure multisync..
Right, they may cause problems... Thanks for the report, I'll make sure
the Evo plugin deletes these when a new sync pair is created!

Okay, here I am a month or so later, and multisync is now playing up again. Just to make sure, I updated the cvs and recompiled.
Random new contacts are not being synced across evolutions, I am getting asked about the same duplicate pairs, which appear to be the same, but which multisync is convinced has been adjusted on both sides.
An example, we entered a friends details into my wife's evolution, this was syncronised to the main evolution (mine), but the main evolution would not syncronise that to my laptop, so it didn't get syncronised into the phones.
I am also seeing duplicate entries of the same contact appearing regularly on the main evolution, and subsequently on the other two machines.
It's making a real mess of our working data, to the point that I'm not sure I should continue working with it, or that I should stop being so ambitious.
Is there anything else that will keep three machines running evolution in sync? Ldap?
