That sounds sensible. I definitely have named running, so it must be the latter. Sometimes, in the Multisync syncml log, I also get 'Could not open server port' even though I am not running iptables. Could you point to how I can solve this proble/problems?

Two questions about this, if you've got time. Firstly, what does the second line do exactly? I notice that we have different ones. Secondly, how do you compose the serial number?
The serial number in a SOA record can be any number, it is only used by slave nameservers to determine if they need to reload the zone. Common serial number usage is the date + a number so that it can be incremented more than once a day if needed. You only increment it when the zone is changed.

Is that just the current date, and if so, do you have to change it every time? And where does the '3' at the end come from? My phone shows its serial number in Applications->Edit->System Information as CXC162022 R3C006. What part of this information do I need?
