Hi everyone,
I just wanted to inform you that I'm currently in the process of writing a MultiSync plugin for Mozilla Calendar / Sunbird. I write this post because (a) you may be waiting for a Mozilla Calendar plugin (b) you may be thinking about writing one yourself (so this is a chance to coordinate your efforts) or (c) you may have suggestions about such a plugin you want to share with me.
The current status is as follows:
The plugin is already basically working - I use it to sync appointments from Mozilla Calendar (latest snapshot from the Mozilla website) to my Siemens S55 phone. Support for syncing appointments FROM the phone is 90% there (but it won't work until I code the last 10% of course, and so it is disabled at the moment).
It only supports calendar entries, no TODO entries at the moment (I have no need for this).
With this plugin, one can use multiple calendars (.ics files) with MultiSync. This works, because the plugin "merges" these calendars internally and displays it as one single calendar to MultiSync. It remembers which appointment was originally in which calendar, so modifications/deletions on the other side get propagated to the correct calendar. It also features a "default calendar": If on the other sync side an entry is added, it is written into this calendar.
I'm using local files for sync at the moment, but plan on adding support for WebDAV, e.g. via the "cadaver" command line utility. This is not perfect, but it works, and is meant as a temporary relief until the folks at Mozilla either publish a Sync API or implement proper locking for WebDAV.
I don't have a GTK GUI at the moment, because I don't really know GTK/GNOME well enough so that it would be an easy task for me, and I don't have time to learn it at the moment. So if someone would be willing to create a simple GTK dialog for the plugin settings, that would be quite cool.
Once the plugin is reasonably stable I will publish it here of course.
Markus
