Any thoughts about why I might be getting this??

checking how to hardcode library paths into programs... immediate
checking whether stripping libraries is possible... yes
appending configuration tag "F77" to libtool
checking for pthread_create in -lpthread... yes
checking for RAND_bytes in -lcrypto... no
configure: error: You must have libcrypto (OpenSSL) installed.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/downloads/multisync/plugins/syncml_plugin$

I'm running a Ubuntu Hoary version of debian, on i686 and have installed
openssl 0.9.7e-3
libcripto++ 5.2.1a-1 plus the dev and utils packages but still get this error.

Any suggestions most welcome.

Thanks

Jim
