Hi With Oracle databases, you have three provider choices. Following information
will help you out. The OleDb data providershipped as part of the ADO.NET 1.0 base
class librariesallows ADO.NET to connect to a database using an OLE DB provider as a
bridge between ADO.NET and the database. This is DSN less connection
strCnnString = "Provider=OraOLEDB.Oracle;Data Source=abc; User ID=xyz;
Password=xyz123;"
The Odbc data providerreleased by Microsoft shortly after the release of .NET
on the Webis similar to the OleDb data provider, except it uses an Open Database
Connectivity (ODBC) driver as a bridge.
The native .NET data provider exposes native ADO.NET classessuch as
Connection, Command, and DataReaderto communicate directly with the database.
Underneath, native providers can use either native methods such as the Oracle Call
Interface (OCI) or the direct protocol (the Oracle Transparent Network Substrate [TNS]
protocol) to communicate with the database. DSN less connection
The Microsoft .NET provider (System.Data.OracleClient) - requires an Oracle
8.1.7 or higher client.
Oracle's provider (ODP.NET) - is in beta.
