Please start "pcscd -a -f -d stdout" in order to see also the apdu exchange between the card and the reader.
In the logs attached I don't see an error from PC/SC Lite. Perhaps you may activate some debug information in the driver for the SPR532 (see the README)? :-)
Maybe I'm using the wrong driver? Is there a binary version of the generic CCID driver? If I try to build it from source I'm always told that usb.h could not be found. In fact usb.h is not in my system. Where could I get it?
Perhaps someone on the list can send you a binary version for this driver on MacOS X.
The usb.h is available in the tarball of the libusb-0.1.7. [1]
Have you install it?

What is the driver you used for this reader? I have tested the SPR532 with success on Linux with the generic CCID driver [1]. See my previous post about the CCID for OSX. Could you report your problem with LOGS on [2]?
Give us all the information you have about the version of PC/SC you used, the driver name and version, the system you used, ... For the logs send us the output of "pcscd -a -f -d stdout" You may also send us a log with an Omnikey CardMan in order to compare the output.
