Thanks for the quick reply. Is this a good version of PKCS11 to build on or should I
try to use the gpkcs11 as a base? Which is most popular i.e. easier to work with?

The latest version of muscleframework is 1.1.4. But that will not solve
your problem.
You must use the PKCS11 CVS version [1]. The bug you see has been
corrected. See [2] to learn how to extract a CVS version.
I may release a new version of muscleframework but I don't know if many
people are using it so I am not motivated. Anyone wants to comment?
