Recently I discovered from www.pcscworkgroup.com that V2.0 of the PC/SC spec has been written and circulated to PC/SC Consortium members (full and associate) for comment. Asking a representative of one of the Members if he had reviewed the spec, I found that his company's representative to PC/SC refused to let him have it, which is clearly not what PC/SC intends.
The PC/SC web site has a description of the changes (click on Specifications and then Specifications Update) - but in correspondence with the PC/SC Administrator I found that the changes are rather more than those listed. Since I was over in Washington DC (at CTST) this week, I was able to meet the PC/SC Adminstrator and verify that they do indeed want comments, and expect Members to consult widely. They also realise that they have not made direct contact with interested groups outside the Membership. Separately I asked the Technical Director of Global Platform if he knew about PC/SC V2.0 - he did not. Anyone on this list reviewed the draft of 2.0? I'm running (with the other 2 people to whom this email is copied) a study project on methods for handling smart cards (UK govt funded), and comments are welcomed off list.
