Ooops, I know only very little about the smartcard readers but I tend to
think that you can _only_ read smartcard. A smartcard is completely
different from a SD card! The main purpose on a computer (that I see) is
that you can put your digital signature on a special card (given with
the reader) and this allows you to login into your computer without
typing password. Well... on this mailing list, probably lots of people
could mention other usages...
FYI, SD card readers are usually mentioned as MMC/SD readers.
