I am in fact using ccid-1.0.1-1. It seems that the driver does not
work on my x86_64 machine, but mostly seems to work with my i686
machine.
I tested the driver on a x86_64 machine and it worked. Can you
elaborate your bug report?
Start pcscd from the command line using:
# pcscd --foreground --debug
to have some debug.
