do you really need the "contactless" part of the information?

if I had to do that, I would proceed in 2 steps

-find readers that contain a card (already doable)
-send a specific command that is recognized by the card application, typically it will be a select with an AID
-same idea is usable to find the reader that contains the sam.

and that's all, you do not have contacts or radio waves in the equation.

what about that?

Sebastien

Is there a way to know if a reader is contactless?

Why do you need to know if the reader is contactless or not?

(late answser sorry)

knowing if a reader is contactless or not is very important (not to say critical) in a lot of cases and especially for application used by "normal users" (i mean not PC/SC - and so on - expert).

applications, such as ID (passport, eDL, ...) readers, would have to be able to auto-configurate (to choose the right reader) when several readers are present (and a lot of "combo-readers" do include several contact and/or contactless heads, one (or 2) for its main purpose(s), other for SAM).

a standardized function to get this information will save a lot of time and avoid tons of bad assumption made on names.

Sylvain.
