I believe you want to use the NotificationProducerClient to subscribe() to notifications from a producer. In the call to subscribe(), you can specify the EPR of the consumer, which may or may not be the piece of code that is calling subscribe(). The NotificationConsumer just processes messages that are sent once the subscription is in place.
