Not a word in "man mpd.conf" about input devices, just output devices.
I have been trying to use arecord and write its output to a fifo, but
apparently arecord is unlinking the fifo and is writing the output to a
regular file. I fear I have to use jackd, but I'd like to run mpd on an
Alix board (CPU 500MHz/256MB) and I'm not sure if the CPU power is
enough for jackd. And I really like the concept of a single mpd :)

It must be a problem of the same order as marked in the FAQ about
playing a CD.

BTW: I'm a noob as far as sound is concerned. So please don't shoot.
