Strange that it has not already been written, I think there will be quite a few out there who would like to play an analogue or digital input, or whatsoever, by sending commands to mpd. Now I have to switch to another input source outside the very nice mpc/mpd combination with its wide variety of clients. IMHO this will really increase the value of mpd.
