This patch makes me a bit uncomfortable. pgp_select_key() (and
crypt_select_key() which ought to be part of the patch too) are called in
a variety of circumstances, and it feels like the wrong place to be taking
a guess if it's okay to auto-select.
pgp_getkeybyaddr() could be matching to find encryption keys and find a
name-match against a strong, valid key. That won't work out so well if
you're emailing a different "John Smith" who you didn't realize isn't in
your key ring.
I think a better place to improve things would be in the getkeybystr
methods. If you had a match against a key-id with only one strong, valid
result, I think it would make sense to just auto-select the key (not even
needing to add an option).
Are there other examples of places you'd like to see an auto-select occur?
