Hi Philip,
This patch only triggers *after* the prompt. If the prompt didn't come
up, then Mutt was already able to find a single strong valid email-address
match for the key and didn't have a need to prompt you.
Just to step through the process (for encryption):
For each recipient:
- try to find a key matching the email address or name of the recipient.
- if mutt finds a single strong, valid, email-address match,
automatically select the key
- if mutt finds more than one match, or just finds a name match,
prompt you to select the key
- if all that fails, then prompt: "Enter keyID for <recipient>:"
- this is where my patch comes in. If you enter a key id or
fingerprint, and there is a single match, autoselect the match. Without
the patch, Mutt will currently always ask you to choose from the results.
Does that match your expectations or understanding of what's going on? If
not, then it may be that this patch isn't necessary. Please let me know.
