Heh, indeed we can't.

If it were just for me, I'd be happy with a delete-signed-attachment
quadoption, defaulting to either "no" or "ask-no". I agree it is
cleaner to also delete the signature in this case (though I don't
really mind the "bad signature" message, and either way keeps a trace
of the fact that the message was once signed, which I value).

Agreed. It was confusing to me when I first encountered it, and
apparently still it, since it misled me into writing "PGP-encrypted".

Can / should I submit a patch for the message itself?
