Sorry for the delay. I took a closer look at IMAP changes between 1.5.24
and 1.6.0, and aside from the UTF8 changes, nothing else significant was
done. Given that the patch didn't make a difference that ruled out those
changes.
One of our contributors poked a maintainer for the IMAP server to see if
he could get any feedback about this, but didn't really get helpful
response.
Brendan took another look and confirmed that Mutt is following the RFC,
and given that setting $imap_pipeline_depth to 0 or 1 fixed the problem,
it seems the problem is on the server side: they seem unable to deal with
pipelining. Perhaps they'll fix it soon, perhaps not. :-/
I don't really have any other workaround except to keep that setting for
now. You may want to try periodically turning it off to see if they have
fixed it on their side. For now, I'm marking this wontfix, but feel free
to post back if you have updates or find out new information.
