Well, in the process I learnt a lot about mutt and sasl, so thank you for
the whole discussion.
The core logic in this code, written by Vsevolod Volkov in 2000, has gone
almost unmodified across the standards change of 2007 and still works:
this is amazing, and deserves our respect.
