Surely it is not the plan to cease development completely.
I know that you asked for willing maintainers already, but I think you
will keep waiting forever if you expect someone to just go forward and
ask for maintainer rights.
Perhaps it would be better to actively ask some of the major
contributors if they want to take over maintainership together,
otherwise development will never continue.
A system could be setup where multiple of the new maintainers would need
to approve a patch and if it is a critical decision, then you could
still have the say about whether it gets merged.
In any case I think it is time to make a new plan about how development
can continue.
