Hi all: I am Geeta Ramani and I work for Central Maine Power Company as a "Systems Progammer". I have had a little over 3 years of experience in Java and about 6 months experience with Struts. However since we aren't allowed to use beta software in our company, all my experience with Struts has been with version 1.02. That is one of my primary goals for this class: I want to find out about all the cool new features that I hear Struts 1.1 has. Plus I think I know only just enough about Struts to get stuff working (aka be dangerous), so I think I probably have been doing many things inefficiently, or have been ignoring good OO principles, or been just plain wrong. So I am hoping this class will open my eyes to these things - nice modest goals, huh? ;)
As for what I like to do: am I glad you asked!! ;) My main hobby is reading. In fact a glass of wine and a good book in front of the fire is my idea of heaven..:) At any particular time, I have about four to five books going. The last bunch of books I read are: "Reaching Bombay Central" (great book, but maybe you had to grow up in India to catch all the references), Christopher Buckley's "No way to treat a first lady" (tons of fun as usual, though his "Thank you for smoking" is still my all-time favourite), Barbara Pym's "Excellent women" (this was a re-read for me), Anita Brookner's "Look at me" (devastating), Ruth Rendall's "The blood doctor" (great, naturally), Peter Robinson's latest "Close to Home" (love the Alan Bates series!). When I am not coding or reading, I like to cook, paint, eat, drink, and be with my lovely family. I also like to dream about gardening: I never have any time to actually implement any of my gardening plans! I look forward to this class and am hoping I will get to know more of you soon..
