I also have had great difficulty with Resin not functioning consistently. There seems to be bugs with the path processing done by Resin, war's that work fine in Tomcat are hit or miss in Resin. I have also had trouble with image paths and tag-lib paths. Bottomline after spending hours Saturday (and on previous days) trying to get Resin to work, plus comparing Resin and Tomcat, I gave up at 1 in the morning and finished coding with Tomcat. It certainly is pain restarting Tomcat after changes but I think I can get Ant to do that for me in the future.
Nevertheless, until I can drop the strut-menu war into Resin and have it work from get-go I going to work with Tomcat and test Resin afterwards.

Hi All,
I've been battling unsuccessfully with resin and eclipse. I've become very used to working with netbeans and tomcat on Linux but must now admit I'm stumped and I'd really appreciate some help!
I'm stuck on the most basic steps of setting-up eclipse: lab 1 step 3-5 and I'd appreciate some help from someone whose well past this step!
I think I understand struts pretty well but I'm really falling behind as I cannot get resin to play nice at all and I seem to be going around in circles with eclipse. Like everyone else who has posted I've been unable to get the sample wars to run under resin but I'm also having difficulty getting even 'basicPortal' to open without over 300 errors in eclipse!
Has anyone else had these problem or has it all gone swimmingly - do I have maybe a problem with my PC build and I need to get another one?
I have tried adding the appropriate jars - rt.jar was already there and I've tried adding jsdk24.jar and have read the instructions probably 100 times already. The errors I get are as follows:
"The declared package does not match the expected package src.org.apache.async.mail" at ByteArrayDataSource.java basicportal/src/asyncjob/src/org/apache/async/mail line 1
"The import javax.activation cannot be resolved ByteArrayDataSource.java" basicportal/src/asyncjob/src/org/apache/async/mail line 66
"DataSource cannot be resolved or is not a valid superinterface" ByteArrayDataSource.java basicportal/src/asyncjob/src/org/apache/async/mail line 81
Any help greatly appreciated!
