So the european ( british , spain , portugal , france ) sailors set off to find different path to India . In this voyage different sailors different islands and other countries which was less know about in the other part of the world. Columbus ( a spanish sailor ) landed in land thought he had landed in India. But that was the Americas where he landed and the islands near to that was actually what we call as caribean islands or West Indies . He thought so because he was told Indians were black in complexion and he thought so. He thought he had discovered a new route to India and landed in India but he had discovered a new land in the globe which was called America . Still the ethnic , native people in N.America are called Red Indians. Finally Vasco da gama ( a portugal sailor ) landed in kerala coast ( calicut or kozhikode ) and there by it let flow of europeans to India and other south east asian countries and also the far east.
