Update.  Hauppauge tech support does not even understand how the device is
supposed to operate.  Long story short, I RMA'd my H3 from where I purchased
it and at the same time ordered two more.  I had confidence from what others
said on this list that it would work.  Well, the two new H3's just arrived
today and work.  If you have an H3, follow this link to set it up:
http://mvpmc.wikispaces.com/H2+Linux+Boot+-+NEW.  Two items were different
with these H3s however from my prior unit, both are running rev 2.05 on boot
up and are from lot 3806.

 

If you have tested your tftp server and never see a tftp message in the
logs, save yourself some time and aggravation and just send the box back.
