Would it be possible to have all occurrences of a recurring task created automatically rather than having a new task created only once the previous recurrence be completed? This would help in a more realistic assessment of future workload and better scheduling of tasks.
More details: I use a to-do view configured to group tasks by due-date. This is to allow me to assess my workload (see how many tasks I have scheduled in the coming days) and scheduled new tasks better. Recurring tasks do not show properly in this kind of a setup which greatly distorts the picture. I have quite a few tasks scheduled to be recurring on different days. Sometimes they take up to 3 hours of my day. Currently the recurring tasks only show in the next day they are scheduled for - any subsequent occurrences are not displayed. For example, I have a 2-hour task recurring every Mon, Wed and Fri. Currently, my group-by-due-date view will only show the task as scheduled for Monday but not for Wed or Fri. It's only when I complete the task on Monday that it appears in the Wednesday group. It will appear in the Friday group only once the Wednesday one has been completed. As I mentioned, this can really mess up my scheduling. Going with the above example - on a Monday morning I'm doing my scheduling, I check the coming days and see I still have some time on Wednesday and Friday. I assign some tasks to these days. I then complete my 2-hour recurring task on Monday and suddenly find I won't be able to complete all my tasks on Wednesday as there is an additional 2-hour task scheduled for the day that wasn't showing previously when I did my scheduling (as the Monday occurrence was not completed at that time). The same goes for Friday. I use recurring tasks quite extensively so this is a real issue to me. I would like to see the option to display recurring tasks the same way Outlook calendar does - that is by automatically creating and scheduling all instances of the task rather than creating the next occurrence only once the previous one has been completed.
