I think Gantt charts can be quite useful, but a lot is dependant on how you
plan. If you reverse calendar a project and set your own deadlines
(milestones) a Gantt chart can give you a very good overview of progress.
I disagree that it only shows the first moment you won't be done. Because again
that is dependant on how you plan.
As to the inclusion of a Gantt chart in MLO, I think it depends on the
direction MLO heads. If it is heading in a more project orientated direction
then a Gantt would seem a logical inclusion. As it stands I am not so sure,
only because MLO deals on the most part with multiple projects in a single
outline. But I would sooner see the inclusion of a Gantt to say a calendar as
I think it fits more with the ethos of MLO.

All the best

Steve

Two thoughts:
1) Have you ever had a Gnatt chart that should you when a project would really
complete?
2) What benefit would this Gnatt chart provide the average user of MLO?

Not sure if I agree with that statement. While I can see that if you are on an
agile track/environment, lots of my projects are setting equipment, completing
buildings, etc. (And of course I use MS Project for that). I can see the
advantage though of a Gantt view especially when connected with dependencies.
On the other hand, if I am that deep into the project, I likely have it in MS
Project, and a simple main task to check the MS Project file in MLO.

Part of what I do as an Agile Coach is wean people from their addiction to MS
Project and Gnatt views. I usually point out that Gnatt never tells you when
you will be done, only the first moment you won't be done.

I love using mlo but am missing a gantt view. I would like to request
a gantt view like proj...@hand has. See
