I have a setup that puts the .ml datafile on Dropbox. That way I can get to it from wherever I am. In your case you would need to install Dropbox at work and at home, and at least get yourself a MLO install at home too. The file will always be updated with all the latest changes, no matter from where you did them. This setup actually doesn ´t need any thumbdrive, just two MLO installs on both ends...
