Apologies, you're right, it only completes the ticked task. Might be a useful feature, although you're only really saving mouse clicks if there are a number of consecutive tasks and you can shift select. Otherwise, as you need to click on each task to multiple select, you might as well complete as you select. If you wanted to do a final review before you complete multiple items you can always untick auto update beforehand and then retick it if the completions are ok.
