Just had a thought about a workaround for the F6 option keeping the branch you are currently on open. If you hit F6 and then click on the Back button, this seems to generate the desired effect: namely collapses the whole tree but then takes you back to the task you were on,opening up that branch down to that task.
If would be nice if there was a hotkey for Back and even nicer if F6 did this automatically but I think it will make life a lot easier.
