That seems really counter-intuitive to me. What does it mean then to set a task as a "weekly goal" if you're not indicating it as a task that should be done this week?
For me it's that urgency vs. importance thing from Covey's work...goals are the important things, that if they aren't a goal, they might not ever get urgent enough. The idea is to work not just on the urgent stuff, but the important stuff too.
As for how I put things to the top...I've tried different ways. I used to put a priority letter (A:) in the subject line, because I was using/syncing with outlook.
But I get tired of constantly changing them, so right now I'm using flags. Then I can drag and drop tasks between flags as needed in my Active by Flag todo view. I've been training myself to get all of my Red flags done today, and only put in there what I really can do. If I can't do a task yet, but it's going to be important, I can make a task Red, but put it's start date out next week, and it will show up later.
I know, I should just learn to use the proper fields! I think I like flags because the rest of my tasks don't "get in the way". (The risk is creating something and forgetting to put a flag on it, which I've had happen).
