Well, first off, MLO supports clicking on the top task of a range and "shift
clicking" on the bottom task to select a range. You can then "control
click" additional tasks on or off the selected items.

add that feature to the entire list.

If you want to have future subtasks inherent that feature I would suggest
you use a context for your selection criteria.

So if you have a "star" context you can use the advanced section to only
show tasks with that context. And yes there aren't filters in the outline
view. So this is only for selecting tasks in a ToDo view.

in ToDo Filters
Setup
add rule
contexts contain star

Also you can use automatic formatting to create a condition that will place
an icon in the icon column for your "star" context. BTW, you can also use
this to change the font or highlight the background of these tasks...

Tools -> Options
automatic formatting -> automatic formatting rules
Add
condition
contexts contain star
use icon
icon

Hope that helps...
