Ron,

I was briefly basing that on reading the explanation provided here:  I
haven't been setting start dates and have also been seeing each line
item in one particular level automatically go in as green, not just
the next to-do item in the outline.

You are right, I don't understand the software yet.  I need to read
the help file more closely as I venture into the features.  I was
finding the formatting behavior quite confusing and seemingly
inconsistent.  But the explanation here helped immensely to give me
the big picture to look for as I try to figure it all out.
