Actually, when I booted up my computer this morning, there was a
Windows Update for the C++ redistributable package waiting for me.
After I installed that, and then performed the required reboot, the
WiFi sync appears to be working now!

Well, actually, I should say that I am no longer getting the error
message. Now I get "No device paired with this data file" along with
an IP address, etc.  I have to get going to work now, but I'm sure it
will work. I will mess with it some more tonight though just to make
sure that it does in fact work, and report back my findings.

Oh, and for future reference for others who may be having the same
issue, the Microsoft update number was KB2538242.
