Hi Jon, There's nothing about the starred property that prevents it being set on completed tasks. As far as I know, there is no way to do both complete and unstar at the same time.
However, there is an active starred view, which will only show active tasks that have the star. In this view, completing the task will remove it from the view since the task will no longer be active. I simply work out of this view and then ignore the fact that many of my old tasks have star on them. on android, in the starred view, there is a menu option from the starred view called "Unstar all completed". (on the desktop, it would be easy to create a start + completed view, and right-click on the starred field to turn it off) I never use this, however, because I have quite a few tasks in a folder called Reuse. They don't recur on a regular basis, so I leave them there to use again. Rather than add a star when I uncomplete them, I just leave it alone. (As an example, "pick up library books" has no regular pattern, but gets reused often.)
