I agree with Dwight. It sounds like a PC problem.

I would look for anything that has changed on the computer. Any new 
software, any updates or additions and uninstalling the software or 
hardware (drivers). Assuming you have Windows you could try System Restore 
to a point when it was working fine (before last week for example). That 
would have the same effect.
