Maybe filters need to be more visible? Perhaps the current filter could be added after the workspace name?
In any case, I really think it would be better if selected tasks (or at least new ones) were not instantly removed if they are changed. So there is time to update them to be included in the filter. It would work much better if an added task is not removed until the user has moved the selection off of it. I would suggest the same should be true when editing a task (if selected it doesn’t disappear until you select a different task.
