I am struggling to remember what changes were made to solve this problem - 
which I think remains a significant issue for new comers (and indeed for 
established users)   there have been suggestions that new/amended  items 
should remain on view in a filtered view where they no longer match the 
filter criteria with perhaps a special tick box or something that allows 
them to be dismissed
