The forum is definitely the best place to post your bug reports. You can check, from the replies, whether your bug report has then been picked up by a beta tester and transferred to the beta tester's bug reporting site, which is hosted on JIRA.
In my case I got no reply (http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg12000.html), so I was not sure whether it was picked up. I've sent it directly to support now but still did not get a response. It was not a critical bug, but things could be a bit more transparent and simple. I think a bug tracker could achieve that and makes the life easier for development and support.
